Watch live: McConnell, Scott announce police reform legislation

Greg Nash

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) are set to hold a press conference to introduce a police reform bill Wednesday morning.

The bill is the Senate GOP’s response to the recent police killing of George Floyd that sparked nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice.

McConnell signaled Tuesday he will not negotiate with Democrats on police reform before later bringing up a bill, spearheaded by Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
