Caitlyn Jenner on 2016: ‘I sit on the Republican side’

Caitlyn Jenner says she plans on having a conversation with whichever candidate wins the GOP presidential nomination.

“I sit on the Republican side,” Jenner, 66, told “Today’s” Natalie Morales in a Wednesday interview, “and when we do get a candidate, I certainly will talk to them.”

{mosads}The reality TV “I am Cait” star formerly known as Olympian Bruce Jenner added, “I admit that the Democrats, as far as trans issues, are better than the Republicans.”

Since publicly debuting as Caitlyn Jenner on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine last year, Jenner has said she’s faced more criticism for her political beliefs than her transition.

“I have gotten more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans,” Jenner reportedly told a group of college students last month. When asked why she wasn’t a Democrat, Jenner, 66, replied, “Just because you change gender doesn’t mean you change your core beliefs.”
