House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) said Sunday that Republicans are on the “1-yard line” with their tax overhaul bill and are prepared to “punch it in” this week.

“We are on the 1-yard line and we intend to punch it in in a good strong way on Tuesday,” Brady said on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.”

{mosads}“And this means Americans on April 15, that will be the last time Americans have to file under this horrible broken tax code, so there is a lot to be happy about.”

Brady’s comments come after Republicans on Friday revealed the final version of the tax legislation from the House-Senate conference committee.

The final bill cuts the top individual rate from 39.6 percent to 37 percent and also slashes the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.

Both chambers are expected to vote on the legislation this week in an effort to send the bill to President Trump before the Christmas holiday.
