A shooting inside a food court at a Philadelphia mall on Monday left one person dead, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. at the entrance to the Philadelphia Mills Mall food court, according to ABC News, which cited police.
Police said that a 21-year-old Black man was shot multiple times in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.
As of 9 p.m. on Monday, authorities were still looking for the suspect and the weapon, and the shopping center was under lockdown, according to the police department.
This incident comes amid a series of deadly shootings throughout the country. On March 16, eight people were killed in a string of shootings at spas in Atlanta, including six Asian women. On March 22, 10 people lost their lives, including a police officer, during a shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colo.
