Guam’s governor, Lou Leon Guerrero (D), said she tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and will be isolating at home.

“Earlier this evening, I received a positive test result for COVID-19.  I have been in home quarantine since this weekend and will be isolated pending my recovery. I remain in good health despite exhibiting moderate symptoms of the virus,” the governor tweeted.

Leon Guerrero said she will continue to lead the U.S. territory’s fiscal and coronavirus response teams from home.

Lt. Gov. Josh Tenorio (D) tested negative for the coronavirus, according to the governor’s tweets.

“I implore everyone to use my experience as a reminder of just how serious and contagious this virus is. Help our island protect our loved ones. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Practice social distancing,” the governor said.

Guam reported six new coronavirus cases Monday, bringing the total to 418 confirmed cases and five deaths.
