Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) joked that he had a “moment of weakness” on Twitter Wednesday night after he shared an image comparing photos of President Trump and former President Obama.
“I KNOW I shouldn’t have retweeted this. A moment of weakness…” Leahy tweeted alongside the comparison.
The tweet Leahy shared compared a photo of Obama to Trump with the caption “ObamaCare vs. TrumpCare…you decide.”
{mosads}Leahy’s tweet comes after Senate Republicans announced Tuesday that the Senate tax bill will include a repeal of the ObamaCare individual mandate.
Experts have predicted repealing the mandate would undermine the stability of ObamaCare. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has said 13 million people would lose health insurance.
The move is likely to make it tougher for moderate Republicans to support the bill.
Senate Republicans have tried on multiple occasions to pass a bill repealing ObamaCare, but have failed each time. Trump has admonished the Senate for failing to pass an ObamaCare repeal bill, and has blasted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for the Senate’s inability to pass the repeal bills.
