President Biden’s grandchildren said in an interview Wednesday that they will be looking to former President Obama’s daughters for advice and guidance as they navigate being part of the first family.

“Maisy and I and Natalie and Naomi had the privilege of being able to see two of our friends, you know, navigate eight years of what was really difficult,” Finnegan Biden said in an interview with “Today” show’s Jenna Bush Hager. “They came out so grounded and humble, and they’re so smart and driven. I think we can only take advice from them.”

Bush Hager, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, interviewed all four of Biden’s granddaughters, Finnegan, Natalie, Maisy and Naomi, on the day of their grandfather’s inauguration as the 46th president of the United States.

Maisy Biden and Sasha Obama, Obama’s daughter, grew up together and played on the same basketball team in Washington, D.C., during Obama’s time as president.

The granddaughters talked about how they sat down with Biden and said they wanted him to run for president again and about how during his term as Obama’s vice president, Biden still made it to many of his granddaughters’ sporting events.

Maisy Biden talked about how President Biden calls each one of his granddaughters every day to check in with them. The granddaughters said they are excited for Biden to be in office and implement many of the ideas he’s talked about.

President Biden and Vice President Harris were sworn in to office Wednesday. Their inauguration was done without a crowd due to the coronavirus. Former President Trump did not attend the inauguration, in a break from tradition.
