Trump rips Corker: Says senator is ‘negative on anything Trump’

President Trump on Tuesday ripped Sen. Bob Corker, saying the Tennessee Republican is “only negative on anything Trump.”

“Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts,” Trump tweeted.

“Corker dropped out of the race in Tennesse when I refused to endorse him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!”

Trump has publicly feuded with Corker over the past several weeks.

Trump previously claimed Corker begged for his endorsement, but Trump said he declined.

Corker, in response, called Trump’s White House an “adult day care center” and warned the president’s actions could be putting the country “on the path to World War III.”

Corker’s chief of staff said in a statement that Trump called Corker, asked him to reconsider his decision not to seek reelection and “reaffirmed that he would have endorsed him.”

On Tuesday, Corker said presidential visits to Capitol Hill are not “really about substance.”

“But I think it’s fine for him to come over. I do look at these things as more of a, you know, photo op,” Corker told NBC’s “Today.”

“They’re not really about substance but you know, more power to him.”

Corker also said Trump should leave foreign policy issues “to the professionals.”

“I want to support these efforts that are underway. The president undermines our secretary of State, raises tensions in the area by virtue of the tweets that he sends out,” Corker told ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“And I would just like for him to leave it to the professionals for a while and see if we can do something that’s constructive for our country, the region and the world.”

The Tennessee lawmaker also warned that Trump is taking actions that could take the country on a “path to combat.”

“Really, when you look at the fact that we’ve got this issue in North Korea and the president continues to kneecap his diplomatic representative, the secretary of State, and really move him away from successful diplomatic negotiations with China, which is key to this, you’re taking us on a path to combat,” Corker said.
