Under Contract

• The Defense Department awarded a $2.77 million contract to revamp a Vietnam War commemoration website. The new design for the site, www.vietnamwar50th.com, will support interactive maps, images, and video and audio clips. The site is maintained by the Defense Department’s “commemorative partner” program, under which communities and organizations hold events to honor Vietnam War veterans. Business Enterprises & Systems Technology, Inc. won the award.

• Passover falls between April 22 and April 30 this year, and the Bureau of Prisons is preparing special meals for Jewish prisoners. In at least two federal penitentiaries — one in Yazoo City, Miss., and the Coleman correctional facility in Florida — the Justice Department has ordered a total of almost $30,000 in kosher Passover meals. The dishes include an un-breaded white fish filet, boiled chicken, roast chicken, boiled beef, beef goulash, roast turkey and pot roast, each with a side of an unspecified starch and vegetables. EMS Suppliers will send $22,940 in meals to Mississippi, while LAM Wholesale in New York has been contracted to provide $6,688 in kosher meals to Florida. 

{mosads}• The Bureau of Prisons is contracting with Roy Qualliotine, who spent more than 25 years working as the agency’s Victim Notification System coordinator. The award, worth up to $150,000, is for a consultant to evaluate testing, proposed changes and updates to the program, among other tasks. An estimated 840 hours of work per year will be required, the solicitation document says. According to his LinkedIn page, Qualliotine left the agency in December. The notification system, among other things, alerts victims of federal crimes when the offender is released.

• FCM Travel Solutions, a call center in Australia, won a $788,167 contract from the State Department to manage the travel arrangements for employees at Australian outposts, including the U.S. Embassy in Canberra, and the U.S. Consulates General in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.
