Rock legend, actor Meat Loaf dies at 74

Rock legend and actor Meat Loaf died on Thursday at the age of 74, according to a statement on his Facebook page.

It is unclear how the “Bat Out of Hell” singer died, but the statement said he was surrounded by his wife, two daughters and other close friends when he died.

“We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man. We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time,” the statement reads.

“From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!” it added.

Meat Loaf, born Marvin Lee Aday, appeared in 65 movies and sold more than 100 million albums worldwide over his six-decade career.

Some of the movies he appeared in include “Fight Club,” “Focus,” “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Wayne’s World.”

He also appeared in a season of former President Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” reality TV show.

Trump issued a statement on Friday calling the rocker a “great guy.”

Meat Loaf, who performed at a 2012 rally for then-Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, called his own political views “schizophrenic.”

“I’m neither right nor left, and I’m not sure I’m even in the middle,” he said in a 2012 interview with Esquire. “I have a lot of views to the left, and I have a lot of views to the right, and that really doesn’t put me in the middle. I don’t know what that makes me. It makes me weird. And the album reflects all of that.”

It is still unclear how Aday got the nickname Meat Loaf, USA Today reported. A range of rumors exist from it was his favorite meal his mom made to a joke about his weight.

His biggest hit song, “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” was a Grammy-winning single, while others such as “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” and “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” were top-charting songs for the singer.
