New York City’s Madison Square Garden is set to reopen at 100-percent capacity this month with a Foo Fighters concert, and will require proof of vaccination upon entry.
The venue said in a Tuesday morning tweet that rock ‘n’ roll is coming back on June 20.

The Foo Fighters wrote on Twitter that they have “been waiting for this day for over a year,” adding “@TheGarden is going to feel that HARD.”
We’ve been waiting for this day for over a year. And @TheGarden is going to feel that HARD. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos.

Madison Square Garden said all guests over the age of 16 must provide proof of being fully vaccinated to be allowed into the stadium. For children under the age of 16, proof of a negative COVID-19 test result or a full vaccination series must be shown.
The venue said it “welcomes the New York State Excelsior Pass,” the state’s app that verifies a user’s vaccination status.
Fully vaccinated individuals will not have to wear masks during the concert. Unvaccinated children, however, will be required to wear face coverings “except while actively eating or drinking.”
As an additional safety protocol to minimize traffic, guests will be directed to recommended entrances based on seat locations.
The venue started welcoming spectators back to the facility in February for New York Knicks and Rangers games.
News of Madison Square Garden’s reopening to full capacity comes as New York state continues to inoculate its residents. According to the state’s vaccine tracker, 54.7 percent of the total population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Last month, the state lifted most of its coronavirus capacity restrictions on businesses and restaurants, and ended its indoor mask mandate for vaccinated individuals.
New York City is now planning a mega-concert in Central Park to celebrate the city’s reopening, which will be part of a “Homecoming Week” to show the city is recovering from the pandemic.
