Sanders’s inauguration look promptly gets a bobblehead

Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) Inauguration Day look that quickly went viral is being immortalized in a bobblehead.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum announced Wednesday that it’s taking preorders for an inaugural-version bobblehead of the Vermont lawmaker.

The 79-year-old senator became an online sensation at President Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday when he was eyed attending the formal ceremony in a parka and a pair of large, recycled-wool mittens. Social media users noted his casual style, likening it to an outfit and pose one strikes while at the post office or “waiting for [your] wife at Loehmann’s.”

“As soon as one of our employees alerted us to the viral pictures of Bernie, we checked out Twitter and knew we had to get to work,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Phil Sklar said in a statement announcing the quick-turnaround product. “We think this will be another fun bobblehead to put a smile on people’s faces!”

The $25 bobbleheads, the company said, aren’t expected to ship until May.

Sanders defended his sartorial picks in an interview after the inauguration, telling CBS News, “In Vermont, we know something about the cold and we’re not so concerned about good fashion.”

It’s not the first time the bobblehead maker has commemorated a viral political moment with a wobbly-headed figure — it released a “Mike Pence Fly Bobblehead” after an insect landed on the then-vice president’s head last year during a VP debate.
