Former President Obama shared his 2020 reading list on Thursday, an annual tradition that this year comes as he promotes his own presidential memoir.

Obama shared a list of 17 titles which he enjoyed in 2020, including Emily St. John Mandel’s novel “The Glass Hotel” and “Twilight of Democracy,” a book that examines the Soviet Union and delivers an “oppositionist attack on the new right from within conservative ranks,” according to Kirkus Reviews on Amazon.

In a tweet, he joked that another book, his own, could have been included in his “favorite reads” list.

“As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to share my annual lists of favorites. I’ll start by sharing my favorite books this year, deliberately omitting what I think is a pretty good book – A Promised Land – by a certain 44th president,” he wrote.

Other pieces on the list include “The Undocumented Americans” by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio, one of the first undocumented immigrant students to graduate Harvard.
