Chris Rock says Eddie Murphy once pitched him a heist movie featuring Trump as the villain

Chris Rock says long before Donald Trump became president, he was pitched a movie that would’ve cast the then-New York real estate developer as its antagonist.

The film, according to Rock in an interview published Wednesday in The Hollywood Reporter, was envisioned by comedian Eddie Murphy as a Black “Ocean’s Eleven.” It would feature an all-star cast, including him, Rock, Dave Chappelle and Chris Tucker.

The target for the fictional team of thieves in the heist flick was Trump Tower in New York. Murphy, Rock said, had the idea of the now-commander in chief playing the role of the bad guy.

“Like Alan Rickman in ‘Die Hard,'” Rock said, adding the movie ultimately became the 2011 film “Tower Heist,” starring Ben Stiller, Murphy and “a bunch of white people.”

In his wide-ranging interview with the entertainment industry publication, the 55-year-old comedian also addressed the burgeoning national conversation over systemic racism and police brutality.

“Even though I talked about it and I joked about it, there’s a part of me that’s ashamed at how much of it I just accepted,” Rock said.
