Bruce Springsteen to Trump: ‘Put on a f—ing mask’

Bruce Springsteen knocked President Trump on his show this week over Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to the deaths of more than 115,000 people in the U.S.

Springsteen told the president to “put on a f—ing mask.”

In the latest episode of his “From My Home to Yours” program on SiriusXM, the “Born in the U.S.A.” singer remarked on the climbing death toll. 

“With 100,000 plus Americans dying over the last few months and the empty, shamed response from our leaders, I’ve been simply pissed off,” The Boss said during his episode on Wednesday. “Those lives deserve better than being simply inconvenient statistics for our president’s reelection efforts. It’s a national disgrace.” 

“Instead of celebrating the joys of summer today, we will be contemplating our current circumstances with the coronavirus and the cost it has drawn from our nation. We will be calculating what we’ve lost, sending prayers for the deceased and the families they have left behind,” he continued. 

“So, if you are ready for a rock & roll requiem, stay tuned,” the rocker went on before making a song dedication to Trump. “I’m going to start out by sending one to the man sitting behind the resolute desk.”

“With all respect, sir, show some consideration and care for your countrymen and your country. Put on a f—ing mask. This is Bob Dylan with ‘Disease of Conceit,’ ” he added.

Trump has drawn criticism in recent months for his administration’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak and for recently downplaying concerns about the disease amid a surge in cases seen in parts of the country as states continue to reopen their economies.

“If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any,” Trump said earlier this week. 

He’s also gotten heat over the past few months for the number of times he has consistently forgone a face mask in public amid the pandemic, even as health experts have recommended people continue to wear the coverings in an effort to mitigate the spread of the disease.

According to the latest Johns Hopkins University data, more 117,000 people in the U.S. have died from COVID-19 over the past several months — a grim milestone that surpasses the number of American service members who lost their lives in World War I.
