Vice President Biden on Thursday sent good-luck messages to the Syracuse men’s and women’s basketball teams on their Final Four berths, saying he hopes for an “Orange sweep.”
“Everyone from the president on down knows I bleed orange,” Biden, who graduated from the law school, said in a video to the men’s team aired on local station WSYR in Syracuse, N.Y.
Biden said he’ll be in Houston on Saturday when the men take on ACC rival North Carolina.
{mosads}”I think you are the most underestimated team in the country, everybody is beginning to figure it out now,” he added, praising the team.
He also acknowledged Trevor Cooney, a guard, who is from the vice president’s home state of Delaware.
Biden complemented the women’s team on their great run in a separate video.
He noted that it’s the first time the women are in the Final Four and said he’s counting on both teams to win for an “all Orange sweep.”
Syracuse isn’t the only connection the Biden family has to the Final Four. Dr. Jill Biden is a graduate of Villanova University. The Villanova men’s team plays Oklahoma on Saturday.
