Cornyn blasts Obama for missing budget deadline again

Greg Nash

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) criticized President Obama for missing the deadline to submit his budget to Congress.

“Once again the president has failed to meet the statutory deadline to produce a budget,” Cornyn said on the Senate floor Tuesday. “The president has missed the deadline now five times.”

{mosads}Cornyn said Obama and his administration must not think laws apply to them. Obama was supposed to submit his budget report to Congress on Monday.

He said that because Obama hasn’t submitted anything, yet he assumes the next budget would be more of the same “failed” policies.

“It looks like the president’s priorities are more taxes, more spending and more debt,” Cornyn said. “If those policies lead to economic growth and prosperity we would see one of the greatest economic recoveries … but they don’t.”

Though Congress has already passed a budget agreement, Republicans have used Obama’s budgets as a political weapon.

The administration warned lawmakers that the president’s budget wouldn’t be completed until March.
