Bobblehead maker adds ‘essential heroes’ to lineup including Fauci, Birx
The creator behind bobbleheads of White House coronavirus task force members Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx will add bobbleheads of “essential heroes” to the lineup that is raising money for a campaign to aid hospitals amid the fight against the coronavirus.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum announced Thursday it’s unveiling a series of 35 different front-line professions amid the coronavirus pandemic, including hospital personnel, delivery drivers, mail carriers, grocery store clerks and warehouse workers.
“Essential workers that the nation once took for granted have been heroes during this coronavirus pandemic,” Bobblehead Hall of Fame co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said in a statement. “Bobbleheads are the perfect way to honor these heroes forever, and I personally look forward to delivering some to teachers, nurses, restaurant workers and many others who have been so critical during these unprecedented times.”
Five dollars from the sale of each $25 “essential hero” bobblehead will go toward the Protect the Heroes campaign, which is using donations to help hospitals get resources they need to fight COVID-19.
The bobblehead museum said it raised more than $215,000 for the campaign to date through the sale of bobbleheads of Fauci, Birx, eight governors and “others individuals who have played a role in the fight against the coronavirus.”
The museum said its Fauci bobblehead that launched in April quickly became the museum’s best-selling bobblehead of all time.
The essential hero bobbleheads, unlike ones that mimic the likeness of individual figures, are generic in appearance and feature different outfits that signify the worker’s job. Customers can choose between “male” and “female” bobbleheads, as well as between “light” and “dark” skin tone.
The products are available for presale on the museum’s website.
