Koch brothers group hits Hagan, Rahall

The group Americans for Prosperity is hitting two vulnerable Democrats in television ads tying them to ObamaCare.

The Koch brothers-backed group said Tuesday it is continuing its television advertising against Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) and Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.).

The group targeted both members with ads last year and earlier in January. It did not say how much their current ad buy is worth.

The ad against Hagan is a spot they’ve previously run, showing a woman talking directly into the camera.

“Millions of people have lost their health insurance,” the woman says. “Millions of people can’t see their own doctors. And millions are paying more and getting less. ObamaCare doesn’t work. It just doesn’t work.”

The spot against Rahall calls him out for promising that those who liked their insurance could keep it, and splices the video with headlines from a fact checking website that branded the claim the lie of the year in 2013.

The ad also plays a clip of Rahall asserting that it might be in people’s long-term interest for some to receive cancellation notices. Many of the people who received health plan cancellations had plans that did not meet minimum coverage requirements in the new healthcare law.

“No regrets, call congressman Rahall, tell him the truth: ObamaCare is not working,” the narrator says.

The ad against Rahall coincides with the launch of the West Virginia state chapter of Americans for Prosperity, the group said.

Americans for Prosperity have already spent more than $22 million on ads tying Democratic incumbents to ObamaCare.

“Kay Hagan and Nick Rahall have chosen to stand with President Obama, instead of the American people,” AFP President Tim Phillips said in a statement. “They must be held accountable for supporting a law that has brought so much hardship to their constituents.”
