Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Tim Kaine, said Friday said that he has to “read a little more” about the FBI’s latest move in its investigation of Clinton’s private email server before making a comment to the press.
{mosads}Kaine was peppered by questions from reporters in Florida about the announcement from FBI Director James Comey that the agency had found emails that appear to be “pertinent” to its probe of the private server Clinton used as secretary of State.
The Virginia senator repeatedly replied, “You just gotta read a little more.”
The unexpected development comes just over a week before the presidential election on Nov. 8. Republicans immediately seized on the news, with presidential nominee Donald Trump hailing the “courage” of the FBI.
“Hillary Clinton’s corruption is on a scale that we have never seen before,” Trump said at a rally in New Hampshire. “We must not let her take her criminal scheme into the Oval Office. I have great respect for the fact that the FBI and the Department of Justice are now willing to have the courage to right the horrible mistake that they made.”
