Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) on Tuesday cast his vote for Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz in the Pennsylvania GOP primary, a campaign aide confirmed to The Hill.

“He’s a solid conservative,” Toomey said outside a polling site in Zionsville, Pa., according to The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa.

“We don’t agree on everything, but having served with him in the Senate, I know Ted pretty well, and I think he’s got a real, real viable shot of beating [Democratic presidential front-runner] Hillary Clinton in the fall,” he added.

Toomey endorsed Marco Rubio the GOP race in February. The Florida senator ended his bid the following month after losing in that state’s primary.

Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner, led in polls heading into the primary in Pennsylvania, one of five states voting on Tuesday.

But Toomey argued the Republican nominating process “doesn’t end in Pennsylvania.”

Voters will also determine whether Toomey will face Democrats Katie McGinty or former Rep. Joe Sestak in November in the Senate race. McGinty overtook Sestak for the first time in a poll on Monday.
