Clinton ally: ‘We’ve been doing research on Donald Trump for months’

A veteran confidant of Hillary Clinton on Wednesday said her forces have long been stockpiling political ammo for use against Donald Trump.

“I think once we know for sure who the nominee is, we’re going to be prepared,” David Brock told host Tamron Hall on “MSNBC Live.”

{mosads}“We’ve been doing research on Donald Trump for months,” added Brock, who founded American Bridge 21st Century PAC and Correct the Record, a pair of pro-Clinton super-PACs.

“We’re not late to the game. We’re going to go out and make the case to the American people against Donald Trump in a way that the Republican Party, frankly, is failing and has failed to do. They haven’t vetted him.”

Brock argued that the GOP presidential primary has treated Trump with more kindness than Democrats would in a general election.

“[It is] true that Republicans have gotten in the mud, particularly in the last few days, with Donald Trump, but I think the reality is the Republicans have not run a real campaign against Donald Trump,” he said, according to The Daily Caller.

“I think they were afraid of alienating his supporters,” Brock added. “Democrats are going to be able to run that campaign. And we are going to stand up to Donald Trump as Democrats and Americans.”

Brock’s remarks follow strong showings from both Clinton and Trump in multiple voting contests on Super Tuesday.

Trump won seven out of 11 states, beating Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s three wins and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s single win in Minnesota.

Clinton, meanwhile, also took seven states, fending off Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

Tuesday’s results also cement Clinton and Trump as their respective party’s standard-bearer.

Trump leads the GOP presidential field by about 16 points, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Clinton, for her part, commands a nearly 10-point edge over Sanders, her sole rival for the Democratic presidential nomination.
