Jon Huntsman’s wife tests positive for COVID-19

Mary Kaye Huntsman, the wife of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R), has tested positive for the coronavirus, she confirmed Thursday, just over a week after the former presidential candidate announced his own COVID-19 diagnosis.

“Back together again after Covid19 isolated us apart. The good news is that Jon is on the mends. The bad news, is this is a very very contagious virus. I have now tested positive. So worried now about the rest of our household,” she wrote on Instagram.

Jon Huntsman, who is running to be governor of Utah again, also shared the news on Twitter.

“Bad news – love of my life, Mary Kaye, tested positive for #Covid_19. Good news – I’m now fully recovered & can be her caregiver without worry. Rest of our gang has been tested again,” he tweeted Thursday.

Jon Huntsman announced earlier this month that he tested positive for the coronavirus after initially receiving the “wrong results” from a previous test.

“After a second try, test results came back positive for Covid-19. Have been experiencing classic symptoms..like so many others, my goal is to keep my family safe,” he tweeted June 10.

Huntsman is currently facing off against Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, former state Speaker of the House Greg Hughes and former Utah Republican Party Chairman Thomas Wright in the GOP primary for the state’s gubernatorial race.

Huntsman also served as ambassador to China under former President Obama and ambassador to Russia under President Trump.
