Uber bans right-wing activist for complaining about Muslim drivers after NYC attack
Uber has banned a right-wing activist from using its app after she complained about Muslim drivers following the terrorist attack in New York City.
Business Insider reports that Laura Loomer, an activist who formerly worked for conservative activist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas group, was banned by Uber after she tweeted about Muslim Uber drivers in the city.
“I’m late to the NYPD press conference because I couldn’t find a non Muslim cab or @Uber @lyft driver for over 30 min! This is insanity,” Loomer tweeted Wednesday.

Loomer also called for the creation of a “non-Islamic” ride-sharing app.
{mosads}“Someone needs to create a non Islamic form of @uber or @lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver,” Loomer tweeted.

Business Insider reports that Uber banned Loomer for violating the company’s community guidelines.
Loomer’s tweets came after it was reported Wednesday that the man who allegedly killed eight people when he drove a truck onto a bike path on Manhattan’s Lower West Side had been working as an Uber driver for six months.
Uber said the suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, had passed the company’s background checks and had made more than 1,400 trips during his work with the service. The company said it was in contact with the FBI regarding Saipov.
“We are horrified by this senseless act of violence. Our hearts are with the victims and their families. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide our full assistance,” Uber said in a statement.
The attack left eight people dead and several others injured.
