Trump makes last-minute push in Michigan
Donald Trump will campaign in Michigan on Monday, as his campaign makes a last-minute push to put what is typically a blue state in play on Election Day.
{mosads}Trump will speak at rallies in Grand Rapids and Warren, Mich., the Detroit News reported late Friday.
Trump’s campaign this week cited Michigan as a state it believes it can flip.
Senior communications adviser Jason Miller told WABC Radio on Friday that Trump is competitive in typically blue states, including Michigan and New Mexico.
“Both in New Mexico and in Michigan we’re showing dead heats in those states,” Miller said.
Public polls show Hillary Clinton safely in the lead in the state.
She leads Michigan by seven points in the RealClearPolitics polling average, and has led every poll of the state in the last year.
Michigan has gone Democratic in the last six presidential elections.
A senior Trump adviser told The Detroit News that the decision to head to Michigan came before news broke that Hillary Clinton’s email investigation was under new review by the FBI.
“Trump is changing the map and you’re seeing states like Iowa and Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania that haven’t been in play in some time,” the adviser said.
