DSCC tops NRSC in September fundraising

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has continued its strong fundraising pace, bringing in $16 million in September.

{mosads}That amount is the largest September haul in the committee’s history and edges the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), despite the GOP committee’s own record-setting $15.5 million month. The DSCC has had the fundraising advantage for most of the 2014 campaign; the news extends its total raised for the election cycle to $127 million, to $97 million for the NRSC.

The DSCC had $14.2 million cash on hand as of the beginning of October. It’s invested heavily in its field program, known as the Bannock Street Project, which Democrats are banking can pull them across the finish line in a number of close races and keep the Senate in their hands.

“As the campaign enters its final weeks, Democrats are in strong position to hold the majority,” DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil said in a statement. “Our grassroots supporters have made it possible for the DSCC to highlight how Republicans want to privatize Social Security, gut Medicare, and limit access to common forms of birth control as well as heavily invest in the Bannock Street Project, which is already paying dividends for campaigns across the country as we head towards GOTV.”

Control for the Senate remains up for grabs with less than a month until the election. Republicans need to net six seats to win a majority.
