Watch: Lawmakers, activists, family members call for voting rights legislation on MLK day

Vice President Harris, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Martin Luther King III joined lawmakers and advocates calling on the U.S. Senate to pass voting rights legislation on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Harris delivered remarks to the congregation at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church remotely from Washington.

Pelosi and other lawmakers joined voting rights activists for a march in Washington before rallying in support of two voting rights bills stalled in the upper chamber.

Speaking at Union Station in Washington, D.C., Pelosi said, “If you really, truly want to honor Dr. King, don’t dishonor him by using a congressional custom as an excuse for protecting our democracy.”
