Lawmakers intent on halting President Obama’s plan to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees into the U.S. voiced concerns with the vetting process Wednesday at a joint hearing of the House Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs committees.
Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) said that “FBI Director Comey recently testified before my committee, basically saying that we can query our databases until the cows come home, but nothing will show up because we have no record of them.”
The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper spoke with Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) to find out how the current refugee vetting process works. To hear him explain the extensive effort, please watch the video above.
