LIVE: YouTube interview with Obama

President Obama will be interviewed Thursday by three bloggers who have become YouTube celebrities through posting wacky and creative videos.

The three YouTube stars — Bethany Mota, GloZell Green and Hank Green — are expected to ask the president about proposals he outlined in the State of the Union earlier this week. But they’re better known for videos in which they offer fashion tips or attempt to eat large quantities of cereal.

{mosads}Press secretary Josh Earnest cast the interviews as part of the White House’s digital outreach effort. The White House used its social media channels to build anticipation for the address, and offered an annotated live stream where viewers could learn more information about some of the president’s plans.

“It simply is an effort to engage as many Americans as possible in a variety of venues,” Earnest said Thursday.

White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer said the State of the Union had “changed from a live television event to a multimedia extravaganza.”
