Journalist defends MSNBC-Obama remark

Journalist Glenn Greenwald on Friday defended his comments that MSNBC has a pro-Obama agenda by referencing President Obama and former President Bill Clinton’s own shots at the network.

Greenwald supported his claims by citing Obama’s joke that his former campaign advisor David Axelrod now works at MSNBC, when it used to be the other way around.

He also cited a comment Clinton made last year that MSNBC is to Democrats as Fox News is to Republicans.

{mosads}He further defended his attack on the network by saying it was ironic MSNBC host Kristen Welker asked him if he “crossed the line” in his defense of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

“My main point was to note the stunning irony of being told on MSNBC — of all places — that a journalist ‘crosses the line’ by expressing opinions and having political agendas,” he wrote in a blog post. “The last outlet that ought to be trumpeting that obsolete myth is MSNBC.

“This is, after all, a network that employs a veritable army of former Obama and [Democratic National Committee] aides as hosts and ‘analysts,’ along with dozens of people whose entire worldview is shaped by devotion to the President and his Party’s interests.”
