Leno mocks Obama’s approval rating

Late-night host Jay Leno on Tuesday mocked President Obama for a dip in his approval rating and also took shots at the National Security Agency and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) weight.

Leno said that Obama’s approval rating is the lowest of any president in his fifth year since Richard Nixon. But Leno said Obama wouldn’t own the all-time low record if history was rewritten.

“Jimmy Carter said that’s not fair,” Leno joked. “He’s sure he would be lower.”

{mosads}The comedian then turned his attention to the NSA, suggesting that the agency has taken its invasion of Americans’ privacy too far.

“You know how they’ve been collecting phone calls, emails and text messages? Last night they went too far,” Leno said. “They intercepted my Pajamagram. I don’t know what the government has to know about that flap in the back; it doesn’t matter.”

Leno ended his string of jokes with Christie, saying that he’s unlikely to join Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) on their fast for immigration reform.

“They’re going on a hunger strike. Good luck getting Chris Christie to go along on that one,” Leno said as a jab to the governor’s weight. “Let me know how that works out.”
