Watch live: Trump holds North Carolina rally

President Trump is set to hold a rally in Fayetteville, N.C., just ahead of the special House election in state’s 9th District.

The GOP hopes Trump’s rally in the district will help give Republican Dan Bishop a leg up against Democrat Dan McCready in a traditional GOP stronghold. The election is being held after state officials found the 2018 midterm contest in the district was rife with fraud.

It is also Trump’s first rally in North Carolina since chants of “send her back” broke out at an event in July while he was attacking Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), leading to bipartisan criticism.

The president, who won the district by nearly 12 points in 2016, is set to take the stage at 7 p.m.
