The Hill’s live video coverage of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee will continue Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The convention’s first day saw the party rally around former President Trump in the wake of an attack that nearly took his life.
As delegates were making Trump’s nomination official, he announced on social media that first-term Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) would be his running mate. Vance had been considered a leading contender for the vice president slot, despite his past criticism of the former president.
Each day of the convention is planned around a theme in the party’s platform. Day 1 focused on the economy; Tuesday’s program will highlight security issues, including crime and border enforcement.
Speakers Tuesday will include former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R), who ran against Trump in the primaries but told her delegates to back Trump in a show of solidarity.
