Former President Trump will be back in the Keystone State Saturday evening, as questions swirl around who he will pick as his running mate.
Making a stop in Butler, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh, the former president will likely continue to highlight his debate showing against President Biden last month, where he claimed victory after Biden’s lackluster performance. The campaign event is also another chance for Trump to make inroads in the incumbent’s home state, which he lost in 2020 after flipping it in 2016.
While he has in recent days been adamant about his desire to announce his pick during the Republican National Convention (RNC), sources indicate the announcement is likely to come before the convention officially begins Monday.
The search, however, has narrowed in on GOP Sens. J.D. Vance (Ohio) and Marco Rubio (Fla.), and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, though Trump has also mentioned Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) as a potential contender recently.
Trump is scheduled to speak around 5 p.m. EDT.
