Watch live: Trump gives keynote at ‘The People’s Convention’ in Detroit

Former President Trump is set to headline Turning Point USA’s “The People’s Convention” Saturday in Detroit.

Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee for the White House, is also expected to use the trip to key battleground state Michigan as a way to court Black voters. During his visit to the Great Lakes State, he will also visit an African American church downtown and host a roundtable.

The former president and President Biden, as they gear up for a rematch in November, have turned their sights on courting the Black community. Biden, who carried Michigan in 2020 by less than 3 percentage points, has seemingly been losing ground with Black voters — somewhat giving the Trump campaign room to move in.

However, a string of controversial rhetoric around race from the former president may cause some to take pause.

Other notable guests at the GOP event were Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, Florida Sen. Rick Scott, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump’s remarks are scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT.
