White House news briefing: Watch live
Recorded earlier
Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary, is delivering a press briefing Wednesday afternoon.
President Biden earlier in the day signed the bipartisan $95 billion funding package for Ukraine, Israel and other foreign aid priorities.
In his announcement after the signing, Biden emphasized the value of the legislation for national security. A recent Monmouth University survey indicated mixed reactions among the U.S. public to the foreign aid package; 43 percent indicated support for the bills, with 35 percent opposed.
Israel’s war on Hamas continues to face criticism from the American public, everywhere from college campuses to — in much more restrained tones — the White House itself. Biden noted that humanitarian aid for Gaza was also included in the funds allocated.
The briefing is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. EDT.
