House holds latest Mayorkas impeachment hearing: Watch live
The House Homeland Security Committee on Thursday morning will hold its latest impeachment hearing centered on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Some Republicans have argued Mayorkas is derelict in his duty to manage the southern border, as the U.S. has seen record monthly numbers of illegal crossings.
Democrats counter that Republicans have not identified an impeachable offense and are trying to hold Mayorkas to a standard no previous Homeland Security secretary achieved.
The White House argued Thursday that the impeachment effort is unconstitutional, urging Republicans to drop it and instead work with President Biden on immigration reform.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST.
