House Judiciary Committee looks into oversight of DOJ’s Civil Rights division: Watch live
The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government is holding a hearing Tuesday morning to examine the work of the Civil Rights division of the Department of Justice (DOJ), which enforces laws prohibiting discrimination.
Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for the division, will testify. Earlier this month, Clarke announced an investigation into alleged abuses by the police force of Lexington, Miss., a community of fewer than 1,600 residents. Clarke noted that the division is equally committed to pursuing civil rights cases in rural communities and reported rights violations in metropolitan areas.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
