Social media users around the world reported Facebook outages on Monday afternoon.

Sites owned by the media giant — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp — appeared to begin experiencing outages around 4:48 p.m. Eastern, the Daily Mail reported.

{mosads}The East Coast of the United States, as well as regions in Europe, South America, the Philippines and India were reportedly affected, according to Down Detector, which tracks outages.

A Facebook spokesperson acknowledged in a statement to The Hill that some users experienced issues accessing services from the company, but said the issue had been resolved for nearly all those affected.

“Earlier today, a networking issue caused some people to have trouble accessing or posting to various Facebook services. We quickly investigated and started restoring access, and we have nearly fixed the issue for everyone. We’re sorry for the inconvenience,” the spokesperson said.

The outages were said to have been sparked by a networking configuration issue and affected multiple regions but were limited to less than 90 minutes.
