Iran says it has arrested ‘Israeli spy,’ others: state media
Iranian state media reported on Monday that the country has an arrested an “Israeli spy” and others who were in contact with foreign intelligence services, according to a Reuters report.
“An Israeli spy has been arrested in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province,” an Intelligence Ministry official told the outlet. “Also other spies who were in contact with several countries’ intelligence services have been arrested as well.”
Iran has accused Israel of acts of sabotage and the assassinations of nuclear scientists.
An Iranian was convicted of spying for U.S and Israeli intelligence and executed in 2020.
Iran has blamed Israel for the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh in 2020. Fakhirizadeh was seen by Western intelligence services as the mastermind behind Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Tehran has denied building a nuclear arsenal and Israel has not confirmed or denied involvement in the killing of Fakhrizadeh.
