Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi testifies in gun trial

Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi took the stand in his gun trial Friday, facing questions from prosecutors about his drug use and stints in rehab, according to multiple sources.

President Biden’s granddaughter was the first witness called by the defense after the prosecution rested its case earlier Friday.

“I knew that he was struggling with addiction,” Naomi Biden said of her father, according to NBC News. She added “things got bad” for Hunter Biden following the death of her uncle, referring to Beau Biden, who died in 2015 due to brain cancer.

Hunter Biden is facing charges over lying on a federal form when he was buying a gun back in 2018.

Prosecutors also asked Naomi Biden about seeing her father in October 2018, the month he bought the gun, when he drove to New York to exchange vehicles. She said he seemed “hopeful” at the time and that the truck she had borrowed from him was in good shape.

She also talked about visiting him in California that August. “He seemed like the clearest I had seen him since my uncle died,” she said, according to The Washington Post. “He seemed really great.”

When leaving the stand, she hugged her father before leaving the courtroom, according to The Associated Press. According to the outlet, she wiped her eye while heading out; however, it was not apparent if she was crying.

Prosecutors are trying to prove that Hunter Biden was actively addicted to crack cocaine when he signed a form asserting that he was not addicted to or using drugs when purchasing a revolver.

Twelve jurors and four alternates for the federal criminal trial were selected Monday, and multiple Biden family members, including first lady Jill Biden, have attended the trial in recent days.

The prosecution called their last witnesses Friday morning: a FBI forensic chemist.

Naomi Biden has publicly defended her father in the past. Earlier this year, she hit back at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for saying that Hunter Biden “fled the scene” of a committee hearing room once Greene started speaking “the truth” about the president’s son.

“Actually, it appears everyone fled the scene when she started lying,” Naomi Biden wrote on the social platform X.
