Cassidy Hutchinson says she’ll be ‘fully cooperative’ on Trump prosecutions

Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said Tuesday that she will cooperate with criminal investigations against the former president if she is asked to do so.

Hutchinson revealed in her new book that she testified for the Georgia election fraud case, in which former President Trump was indicted last month, but refused to say whether she had been asked to testify in other cases against her former boss.

“I have cooperated with every investigation that I have been asked to testify to, and I will continue to do so in any and every investigation moving forward,” she said in an MSNBC interview Tuesday, adding that she would also be willing to testify at trial. “We will be fully cooperative”

Hutchinson also notably testified last year to the House committee investigating Jan. 6, 2021, giving a first-hand account of Trump’s actions on the day of the Capitol riots.

She specifically spoke to criminal allegations against Trump of mishandling classified documents. The former president was also charged earlier this year with illegally holding and showing off classified information at his Florida social club, as well as attempting to obstruct investigators in that case.

Hutchinson said she didn’t have knowledge specific to the Florida documents, but that the entire Trump White House took poor care of classified materials.

“In terms of how the administration — especially towards the end — handled classified information, the book helped shed light on that, but it also helps shed light on how frivolous certain individuals were handling classified information,” she said. 

“I can’t speak exactly to what was brought down to Mar-a-Lago, but I could speak and I can speak to how we were not handling classified information to the standards the national security community would expect,” she added.

She advised other potential witnesses to only think of themselves and turn their backs on Trump, just as she did.

“Think long and hard about where your loyalties lie and who you are and who you want to be. Do you want to protect somebody that sees you as expendable, that sees you as their shield? That’s what Donald Trump does,” Hutchinson said. 

“Donald Trump exploits people who are loyal to him. Donald Trump exploits people who he knows are vulnerable. Donald Trump exploits people who he knows are vulnerable and will do what he needs to be done to protect himself,” she continued. “Donald Trump does not have loyalty to anybody but himself. Donald Trump will put anybody in his path to help himself get ahead.”

Her book, titled “Enough,” also outlines allegations that she was sexually assaulted by former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, and that White House chief of staff Mark Meadows burned documents after the 2020 election.

Trump and Meadows were among the 19 people charged in a sprawling Georgia racketeering case over alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Trump faces three other separate criminal cases over his involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection, the classified documents case and a New York case over alleged hush money payments.
