Comer slams Weiss, says gun charges ‘least of all the crimes that Hunter Biden has committed’

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-K.Y.) criticized special counsel David Weiss after the prosecutor said he would seek to indict Hunter Biden on a gun charge by the end of September, saying the charge is the “least of all the crimes” that Biden has committed.

During an appearance on WABC 770 AM’s “Cats & Cosby Show” on Wednesday, Comer told hosts John Catsimatidis and Rita Crosby that he’s viewing the ongoing legal situation with caution, noting that Weiss tried to negotiate a plea deal with Biden’s legal team.

“They already tried to sneak something through once. We need to make sure that they don’t do it again,” Comer said, adding of the gun charge, “This is the least of all the crimes that Hunter Biden has committed.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Weiss said in a court filing that he planned to indict Biden by the end of this month after a plea deal with the president’s son fell apart before it could be approved by a judge.

Biden was prepared to plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay taxes as well as enter a diversion program relating to a failure to acknowledge drug use when purchasing a gun.

“Obviously, he violated the law and Joe Biden wants to create more gun laws,” Comer said. “I mean, so you know, it’s … I’m not surprised. But David Weiss has a long way to go.”

Comer also said that the country needs to pay close attention to the matter, noting the offenses Biden is accused of committing.

“Yeah, look, I think everybody in America needs to be paying close attention to this,” he said.
