LA city attorney to consider misdemeanor charges for Avenatti domestic violence allegations
The Los Angeles district attorney’s office announced Wednesday that it referred domestic violence allegations against attorney Michael Avenatti to the city attorney’s office to consider as a misdemeanor case.
Avenatti, best known for representing adult-film star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuits against President Trump, was arrested last week on a possible felony domestic violence charge.
{mosads}Actress Mareli Miniutti accused Avenatti on Monday of dragging her across the floor by her arm after shouting expletives at her and calling her “ungrateful” during an argument.
Avenatti on Wednesday praised the decision by the district attorney, writing on Twitter that he is “especially grateful for justice.”
“No charges have been filed. NONE,” Avenatti told The Hill. “The DA can only bring felony charges and they declined.”
The city attorney’s office could still bring charges as a misdemeanor. The office confirmed to The Hill that it had received the matter and are reviewing it, but said that “there are no further details at this time.”

Avenatti on Wednesday also repeated his insinuation that the allegations against him stemmed from the work of Jacob Wohl, a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist previously involved in an alleged plot to smear special counsel Robert Mueller with false sexual misconduct allegations.
Full Steam Ahead – I am immediately focusing on holding Donald Trump and his unethical cronies like Jacob Wohl accountable for their cowardly acts and efforts to intimidate innocent people who believe in the rule of law. Join me: https://t.co/PJzFVkbkP7
