New regs for Friday: Fireworks, cellphones
Friday’s edition of the Federal Register pushes back new rules for fireworks and cellular service.
Here’s what is happening:
Fireworks: The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is delaying new rules for fireworks.
The CPSC proposed changes to the existing fireworks regulations in February, but is now extending the comment period by 90 days.
The public has until July 17 to comment.
Cellular service: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is proposing to roll back certain requirements that it says place cellphone service providers at a disadvantage.
The FCC proposed Thursday to “eliminate four rules that impose requirements on licensees in these services concerning station inspections, records retention and production, operators at station control points, and the filing of certain employment reports,” the agency said.
The public has 30 days to comment.
