New regs for Friday: Tobacco, finance, temporary workers
Friday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new rules for tobacco, companies employing temporary non-immigrant workers and finance companies.
Here’s what is happening:
Tobacco: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) plans to conduct a tobacco report.
The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service requested on Thursday permission from the White House’s Office of Management and Budget to continue collecting tobacco information.
The public has 60 days to comment.
Workers: The Labor Department and Department of Homeland Security are teaming up on new penalties “enforced in connection with the employment of temporary non-immigrant workers.”
The agencies are raising the penalties to match inflation.
The changes go into effect immediately.
Web: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is moving forward with new internet requirements for companies.
Certain finance companies would be required to include hyperlinks in HTML format in their filings with the SEC.
The rule goes into effect on Sept. 1.
