TSA breaks record for most firearms found in one week
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Tuesday announced that it has set a new record for the most firearms found in carry-on luggage during a one-week time frame.
Between Feb. 5 and 11, the agency found 104 firearms in carry-on bags across the country. That number is up from a prior record of 96 weapons, which were discovered last July.

TSA mandates that firearms travel unloaded and in checked baggage. The agency also requires travelers to announce firearms each time they are transported.
The record announcement comes amidst a renewed debate over guns in the United States after 17 people were killed when a gunman opened fire last week at a school in South Florida.
President Trump on Tuesday said he directed the Justice Department to put forward regulations that would ban bump stocks, a device used to increase a semi-automatic rifle’s rate of fire.
