New Orleans flight cancellations to stretch into Wednesday

Multiple airlines have canceled flights to and from New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Ida, with cancellations set to stretch through Wednesday.

Though the hurricane has caused little to no damage to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, nearly 197 flights scheduled to leave or arrive there on Wednesday have been scrapped.

Ida has reportedly caused power outages throughout New Orleans and has affected the water supply in the city, including at the airport.

The New Orleans airport is currently operating using generator power and has low water pressure, which has affected the building’s air conditioning and restrooms, according to a local ABC News station.

Runways have reportedly not sustained any damage.

“The situation is very fluid as all Airport, airline, public safety and other service partners work to respond to this natural disaster so that full operations can resume,” the airport stated on Twitter.
