Nissan recalling almost 800,000 SUVs over fire risk
Nissan North America is recalling nearly 800,000 SUV models in the U.S. and Canada due to a fire risk, The Associated Press reported.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the company is recalling certain 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles because water and salt may be able to get into an electrical connector from the driver’s side foot well and cause corrosion.
Such damage could increase the risk of fires in the vehicles, according to the agency. It could also result in the power window or seat failing, the all-wheel-drive light illuminating and battery drainage.
Nissan said it is working to fix the issue and expects to have a resolution in the spring, according to the AP.
The Japanese automaker also said Rogue owners will get an interim notification letter in March and later will be told when to take their vehicles to a dealer for service, the wire service noted.
