Ford North America president leaving over ‘inappropriate behavior’

The president of Ford Motor Company’s North America branch is leaving after a review of “inappropriate behavior” allegations, the company announced Wednesday.

Ford said an investigation found that Raj Nair engaged in behavior that is “inconsistent with the company’s code of conduct.”

The company did not provide additional details on Nair’s alleged behavior. His exit is “effective immediately.”

{mosads}“I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused,” Nair said in a statement. “I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future.”

Nair served as the president of Ford’s North America division for less than a year. The company said it will announce Nair’s successor “in the near future.”

“We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration,” said Jim Hackett, the company’s president and CEO. “Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture, and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values.”

His exit comes as allegations of sexual harassment and assault have been leveled against powerful figures in media, politics and Hollywood. Several male lawmakers resigned in recent months after accusations of inappropriate behavior.
